	<description>Dr. John Long named Vice President of Research &amp; Collections.  

Dr. Long joins the Museum after serving as Head of Sciences of the Museum Victoria in Melbourne.  Having published some 28 books, over 200 papers and articles, and named more than 50 new prehistoric species, Dr. Long was awarded the prestigious Eureka Prize for the Public Promotion of Science in 2001, the Riversleigh Society Medal in 2003, and the Australasian Science Prize in 2008 for his discovery of the world's oldest vertebrate embryos.  He assumes responsibility for managing a Research and Collections Department of 55 staff that conduct original scientific, anthropological, and historical research to advance human discovery while enhancing the experience of Museum constituents.</description>

Jay Xu leads one of the largest museums devoted exclusively to Asian art. He was previously the Art Institute of Chicago’s Pritzker Chair of Asian and Ancient Art, the Foster Foundation Curator of Chinese Art at the Seattle Art Museum, and also performed curatorial work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Shanghai Museum.
