Give2Asia is a USA-based 501(c)3 public charity that promotes private, corporate and institutional philanthropy to Asia.
Located in San Francisco and operating throughout Asia, Give2Asia works closely with each donor to achieve their philanthropic objectives. Give2Asia’s network of professionals conduct due diligence, liaise with grantees, research new programs, monitor grantee performance and expenditures, provide regular reports to donors and stay abreast of developments affecting philanthropy in the USA and Asia. The organization’s experts speak the local languages and are familiar with each country’s nonprofit sector and the on-the-ground realities that might alter giving strategies. Through a range of options, Give2Asia offers flexibility in delivering philanthropic support while ensuring that all grantees are examined for charitable impact and sound management practices.
The President and CEO will lead Give2Asia by creating a strong sustainable operating infrastructure, developing a fully-engaged board, expanding service models, increasing visibility and market share and growing funding through earned and contributed sources. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the President and CEO is responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic vision that considers and capitalizes upon Give2Asia’s unique ability to serve their client’s philanthropic ambitions in Asia. Creating a service and funding model that ensures the future health and self-sufficiency of the organization will be critical to the President and CEO’s success. Continuing Give2Asia’s history of high quality of service to donors and expanding their ability to support quality philanthropy to Asia will be essential.
The President and CEO serves as Give2Asia’s most public face and advocate. By expanding Give2Asia’s reputation and presence, the President and CEO is expected to grow annual philanthropic giving through Give2Asia from its current level of $30 million to $45 million by 2011 by increasing contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and fiscal sponsor partnerships.
The President and CEO will manage four operating units: Finance and Operations, Programs, Marketing and Business Development staffed by 11 professionals in San Francisco and 3 in Beijing. In addition, Give2Asia works in close collaboration with Asia Foundation and other project staff in Asian countries, who constitute the on-the-ground presence that support Give2Asia philanthropy.
The efficiency of current operations depends upon the talents of a strong enthusiastic executive team. Providing mentoring and guidance to the team, while operating as an engaged individual contributor to drive the growth of Give2Asia’s philanthropy, will be critical to the organization’s success. Give2Asia’s 2008 revenues were $30 million and the organization has an operating budget of $2.3 million funded largely through transaction and consulting fees. The Board currently consists of 21 members, many of whom are first and second generation American citizens of Asian descent, who have personal, business and other interests throughout Asia.
