ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR - INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
University of California, Berkeley seeks an experienced international fundraiser to lead the offshore development activity for the University. The Assistant Vice Chancellor-International Relations (AVC-IR) will play a critical role in advancing the reputation of UC Berkeley as a world class research university and building international support for its research and programs.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor-International Relations will be responsible for fostering a collaborative and comprehensive effort to increase international financial support for its academic and institutional priorities and raise the profile of UC Berkeley around the world. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor, University Relations, the AVC-IR is expected to work closely with the Deans and Directors of each campus unit engaged in international development to share intelligence and resources required to advance promising relationships abroad.
The AVC-IR will work closely with the Chancellor’s Office to advance critical international relationships including advising, planning and leading international travel for key university representatives including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor-University Relations.Working at the highest levels internationally, interfacing with high ranking government officials, including heads-of-state, CEO’s, university presidents and other highly placed individuals, the AVC-IR will represent UC Berkeley in discussions regarding new prospective partnerships, collaborative programs and will generate funding for such work.
Critical to the success of the AVC-IR will be a clear focus on developing financial support for the university, adeptly facilitating the collaboration of internal constituents including deans and key faculty in elevating the dialogue and commitment of donors to mutually exciting research and programmatic efforts.A deep understanding of diverse cultural values and nimbleness in approaching donors and supporters is required.As a key representative of the University abroad, the AVC-IR will be expected to act in the best interest of the University at all times and bring creativity, integrity and cooperation to the process of donor prospecting, solicitation and stewardship.The AVC-IR is expected to draw upon all assets of the University to engage donors in ways that respond to their interests and needs and those of the University.
