We are pleased to announce that the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts at UAB has named Lisa Tamiris Becker as their Founding Director.
Lisa joins AEIVA, having most recently served as the Director of the University of New Mexico Art Museum. She has overseen numerous exhibitions and has had responsibility for a permanent collection of more than 30,000 works of photography, painting, sculpture, printmaking, African art, and ceramics.
The Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts is the new home for the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Art and Art History, as well as the University Galleries. The facility is named after lead donors Hal and Judy Abroms, as well as Ruth and the late Marvin Engel.
