m/Oppenheim Associates is assisting Family Connections in Redwood City, CA in the search for an effective and energetic Executive Director who will set the stage for the organization to grow by increasing individual funding, enhancing community awareness, and strengthening operations. For more than 20 years, Family Connections has been dedicated to closing the achievement gap in education for children of low-income families. Family Connections supports underserved families through tuition-free, parent-participation preschool; ongoing parent education; programming, resources and support for K-12 students and families; and case-managed programs that link families to community services.
Family Connections currently operates in East Palo Alto, East Menlo Park and Redwood City, and serves approximately 400 individuals per year. The organization has five full-time and 15 part-time staff and an annual operating budget of approximately $1.1M. It is currently governed by a six-member board of directors with active board development underway.
Family Connections seeks to deepen its impact with the children and families it serves and increase the scale of its work with quality. Through a comprehensive strategic planning process, the leadership identified several goals that when achieved will continue to demonstrate Family Connections’ quality and sustainability in the field and will be positioned to grow its programs and reach in the community. To that end, Family Connections is seeking an Executive Director who will bring strategic, organizational and fundraising sensibilities to the organization. S/he will oversee the organization’s fundraising, marketing, operations, finances and programs, and will ensure the delivery of high-quality programs while leading the organization into its next phase of growth.
