Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its 1973 founding, Mystic Aquarium provides animal exhibits, research, care and educational programs that are experienced by children and families. Almost 800,000 visitors to the 18+ acre campus are annually transported to shorelines of the Arctic; North America’s Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific coastal waters; and to tropical and other marine ecosystems in ways that bring into focus global concerns on the earth’s marine inhabitants, climate change and human stewardship of the planet. With an annual budget of $30m, 270 full-time staff and 300 volunteers during peak season, Mystic Aquarium has a significant economic impact on the region. The organization enjoys outstanding local, national and international partnerships with premier educational and academic research institutions; and is a member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA), an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is certified by American Humane.

The CEO will lead and financially strengthen the organization as it delivers hands-on, minds-on education, science and conservation research.  The CEO, staff and board team will continually upgrade the visitor experience at Mystic Aquarium, and actively engage children, families, teachers, the general public, area business leaders, scientists, the media, and those with influence over public policy related to the health of oceans and our planet.
