SCHOOLS of the SACRED HEART

San Francisco, CA

BUSINESS MANAGER

m/Oppenheim Associates is assisting Schools of the Sacred Heart in the search for a Business Manager/Controller to join the organization’s finance and administrative team. As part of that process, we are reaching out to the community for suggestions and nominations.

The Schools of the Sacred Heart-San Francisco (SSH-SF) is a dynamic and vibrant school located in the beautiful Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. SSH-SF is an independent Catholic school that carries on the educational mission of the Religious of the Sacred Heart. Founded in 1887, SSH-SF today is a 1,050 student, K-12, four-school complex that offers the unique experience of single-sex education within a co-ed community. The students at Convent Elementary School (girls K-8), Stuart Hall For Boys (K-8), Convent High School (girls), and Stuart Hall High School (boys) are expected to achieve their highest level of scholarship while learning to assume leadership roles as responsible, compassionate, and contributing members of society.

As evidenced by its most recent audit, SSH-SF is a well managed and financed institution. Capital campaigns over the past 20 years have financed the addition of a gymnasium, a new science and performing arts center, and the new boys high school as well as the renovation of the boys elementary school and Flood mansion buildings. The school has a growing endowment and benefits from income from facilities rental and proceeds from an affiliated second hand store.

A hallmark of the school is its strong professional culture. Employees are dedicated to the school’s mission and describe the community as strong, friendly, and welcoming. SSH-SF is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The Business Manager/Controller will be a highly qualified financial and administrative leader who can ensure that the financial and accounting practices are efficient and effective and will support the CFO, the President of Schools, and the Board of Trustees with financial data and analysis with which to make sound fiscal decisions. The Business Manager/Controller will be committed to the School’s mission and take responsibility for the general day-to-day financial operations of SSH-SF and assisting the CFO with budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting; banking; investment management; and risk management. The Business Manager/Controller supervises two members of the Business Office staff and reports to the CFO.

The Business Manager/Controller should have a B.A./B.S. degree with five years experience working as a controller, preferably in a non-profit setting; a CPA is required with an MBA strongly preferred.
