Segerstrom Center for the Arts – Director of Information Technology

Costa Mesa, CA

Director of Information Technology

m/Oppenheim Associates is assisting Segerstrom Center for the Arts (SCFTA) in the search for an experienced Director of Information Technology to join the Center’s administrative team. As part of that process, we are reaching out to the community for suggestions and nominations. For details, see the complete Position Description.

SCFTA is one of the nation’s most acclaimed performing arts centers, presenting an eclectic range of the of the world’s finest performers and companies to the diverse communities of Orange County and Southern California. Their performances are complemented by a wide range of enriching education programs that reach more than 350,000 young people annually. SCFTA’s artistic and educational programs and initiatives are supported by some of the nation’s most acoustically innovative and technically advanced performing arts venues.

The IT architecture underpinning these performance spaces allows for staff to update the CRM database, international performers to Skype their families, and customers to purchase tickets online, and the use of appropriately scaled technology has long been important to the Center’s operating infrastructure. In today’s world, however, a new sensibility must be added to include a sophisticated understanding of online customer service functionality, the marketing reach of social media, and ways to engage a huge potential audience through smartphones, tablets and other such devices. The Director will shape SCFTA’s IT footprint both externally and internally into the next decade.

Reporting to the President and working with the senior administrative team, the Director of Information Technology’s short term goal will be assessing the state of play of in-process technical projects, short term risk to SCFTA’s technical infrastructure, and changes and upgrades to the operating infrastructure. Beyond upgrading and maintaining SCFTA’s technology, the Director of Information Technology will make meaningful improvements to SCFTA’s online brand, social media presence, and audience engagement apparatus.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT, at least 10 years of project management experience, and demonstrated ability in managing staff, negotiating with vendors, and communicating with others of varying technical proficiencies. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional engaged in the latest the field has to offer, interested in taking a leadership role in technology redefining audience engagement.
