Sobrato Early Academic Language

Cupertino, CA

Chief Finance and Administrative Officer

m/Oppenheim Associates is assisting the Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL) model in the search for a Chief Finance and Administrative Officer to develop capacity and operations to support a growing, distributed organization throughout the state. For more information, please view the complete position description.

SEAL provides intensive, enriched language and literacy education for English language learners (ELL), to ensure that these students perform as well as their peers. The model involves professional development for teachers, school and district change. Techniques employed by SEAL were developed by Dr. Laurie Olsen, a nationally recognized expert in English language education, and program objectives are achieved by integrating English language teaching and learning into the day of each student, and by building the capacity of preschools and elementary schools to deliver this model.

The Sobrato Family Foundation has successfully incubated SEAL, and seeks to transition the practice, research and policy/advocacy initiatives into a new 501(c)3 nonprofit. Currently operating in 89 schools across 16 districts statewide, there are plans to expand further in this current year and along with the Executive Director, the CFA will ensure that infrastructure, operations and workflows are developed and managed to support staff, facilities and technology systems.

The CFA will have seven or more years’ proven managerial/financial experience preferably in the nonprofit sector and/or in a rapidly growing or start-up environment. Experience in public education administration and finance would be an advantage.

Your suggestions and nominations are most welcome, and please feel free to forward this note as you deem appropriate. We thank you for your support as we seek great leaders for SEAL.
