Vice President of Policy, Research and Evaluation
Helios Education Foundation seeks a senior policy professional to help the Executive Team and Board of Helios shape the Foundation’s policy positions, and lead on-going evaluation of its various philanthropic investments and programs. Please find a complete Position Description.
Helios Education Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals in Arizona and Florida to succeed in postsecondary education. Founded in 2004 through the conversion of an education loan corporation, Helios is the largest philanthropic organization within Arizona and Florida dedicated exclusively to strengthening education. With an endowment of over $600m, and annual grants of between $15m and $25m, Helios enriches lives and strengthens communities across the two states it serves.
The Foundation’s goal is to increase the number of young adults that complete postsecondary education with the comprehensive skills and knowledge required to succeed in careers and compete in a global economy. As a result, Helios focuses its leadership, expertise and resources to advance the academic preparedness of all students and to create a college-going culture across the education continuum.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Senior Vice President of Policy, Research and Evaluation will set the vision for the Foundation’s recently created Policy, Research and Evaluation Center of Excellence. As the lead executive of this new Center, the Senior Vice President will be the chief advisor to the management team and Board in the Foundation’s policy positions, utilization and creation of research to inform its work and priorities, as well as the strategic evaluation of its investments and key initiatives. The Senior Vice President will also cultivate and manage national and local partnerships which advance the Foundation’s mission and strategic goals.
The Senior Vice President will routinely report to the President and CEO and the Board on the state of the Foundation’s policy, research and evaluation initiatives. Upon occasion, the Senior Vice President will engage subcontractors, grantees or partners in policy or evaluation projects, and will coordinate the activities of such professionals engaged by the Foundation.
The position will be located in Tampa, Florida with significant travel to other parts of Florida and to Helios’s headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.
