m/Oppenheim Associates is assisting Avenidas in Palo Alto, California in the search for a new President and Chief Executive Officer. For more than 40 years, Avenidas (www.avenidas.org) has been creating innovative programs, providing resources and coordinating services for older adults and their families on the Mid-Peninsula. Its vision is to be the leader in the creation of a community that supports and celebrates its older adults. Located in the heart of downtown Palo Alto, Avenidas is not your grandma’s senior center, and is continually experimenting and responding to the needs, desires and demographics of the changing face of positive aging. Plans are underway for a major expansion and improvement to the site with the intent of breaking ground at the end of 2015. This $12M project is in the early stages and will be led by another executive at Avenidas. Architectural renderings of the new building completely re-imagine both the interior and exterior of Avenidas, creating an engaging and more functional environment for clients. Avenidas has a current operating budget of $4.5M and a staff of 39 (FTE).

The Chief Executive Officer will be a mission-driven, big-picture individual who will lead a highly motivated, self-directed team and day-to-day operations. S/he will be the driving force behind incubating services, programs and products that promote positive aging. The CEO: will be both the internal and external face of the organization, will cultivate meaningful relationships and partnerships in the public and private sector, and will be the chief advocate and fundraiser – building on the brand, reputation and good will of Avenidas.
