VICE PRESIDENT of MAJOR GIFTS

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Principal Gifts, the Vice President for Major Gifts will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual donors who contribute $10,000 or more to the Annual Campaign.

This position focuses on comprehensive giving to grow unrestricted annual support while promoting and assisting with opportunities for targeted investments; solicits gifts directly, and prepares senior colleagues or lay partners for such solicitations.

The Vice President for Major Gifts will carry a portfolio of up to 150-200 appropriately matched donors/prospects, including prospects to be re-engaged to support the General Annual Campaign; works with key staff in the Affinity areas (that are supported by a strategically focused Community Campaign, increased event-based support, and a new Senior Director for Donor Research and Analytics) to identify new Major Gift prospects that will include industry focus groups of Finance and Entertainment.

The Vice President for Major Gifts will partner with the Strategic Philanthropy Team in developing and implementing solicitation strategies.  The ability to identify and engage new donors, maximize the contributions of existing donors will be important to the success of this position.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles (JFGLA) impacts the lives of tens of thousands of people in Los Angeles, Israel and over 70 countries around the world.  The Jewish Federation of raises over $40m annually to assure the continuity of the Jewish people, support a secure State of Israel, care for Jews in need is Los Angeles and abroad, and mobilize on issues of concern to the local community.  Located in Los Angeles, the JFGLA has a staff of 108 professionals and 46 support personnel. The JFGLA budget is approximately $48 million which covers annual expenditures and allocations, and an average of $45m is raised annually.

The JFGLA has a goal of substantially increasing the philanthropic support over the next five years through new approaches and new initiatives and is investing in the development organization to build and support a staff and approach that will lead to success.
