DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
Opera Colorado seeks an inspiring senior leader to partner with the General Director, Board, and staff to drive a significant fundraising campaign that will financially strengthen Opera Colorado as it shapes outstanding artistic and educational programming for residents and visitors of Colorado. Reporting to the General Director and working closely with members of the Board and staff, the Director of Development will oversee a strategic fundraising program that achieves a major expansion of the Opera’s donor base while nurturing the existing donor community and inspiring increased loyalty and support. The Director of Development will view all the organization’s activities, performances, programs, events, contacts and relationships, and will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Public Relations to develop a unified approach to patron advancement, effective outreach and campaign strategies that connect with individual and institutional donors.
Located in downtown Denver, Opera Colorado is a dynamic, growing opera company whose productions are recognized for extraordinary artistry and innovation encompassing a broad classical repertoire and contemporary works. Opera Colorado has an annual budget of $3.7 million, a 33 member board, 10 full-time and 6 part-time staff, 100 active volunteers, and an annual attendance of about 15,000. The Company is also known for outstanding youth and adult education programs reaching over 35,500 annually as well as the vibrant Young Artist Program, recognized nationally for the development of young American talent through main stage performance, community education programs, and state-wide touring productions. In all, Opera Colorado has achieved consistent growth in artistic vision and community engagement, and now presents a mix of traditional and contemporary works, engaging both young American talents as well as attracting major international artists.
